Systemic Educational Equity Organizational Assessment
copyright Partners for Equity Development 2017

In its first 18 months of existence, the Partners felt it was critical to assemble an organizational assessment tool that could better guide school systm leaders and communities to assess the various aspects of the school system and the extent to which they are equity-centered.

The Systemic Educational Equity Organizational Assessment tool was developed by a committee of the Partners for Equity Development that included education equity researchers and practitioners.  The assessment was modeled after similar rubrics that guide education equity work including: LEAD tool from Education Northwest, Equity Rubric from EEOC, Equity-Oriented Leadership from FREC, and Arenas of Systemic Change from Great Lakes Equity Center.

This assessment offers a continuum of "levels" to use as a way to capture the extent of equity-centeredness in areas such as: leadership, curriculum, staff development, and community engagement.  From "equity work not yet started" to the top level of "demonstrating systemic results," the assessment can be used to showcase for leaders and their communities what stage of work they are in centering equity and cultural-responsiveness in school systems.
